Saskatoon, SK,

Upon delving into a good book, I immediately enter into a relationship with the author, the characters, and the story. Each love affair is unique. I often find myself embedded in the world the author has created.

My heart rarely beats faster than in the first moment I walk into a bookstore. As I take a couple steps passed the entrance, I stop to look around, breath in, and smile. My senses are heightened, my mind is clear, and I feel at peace.

My adoration of bridges follows suit. Living in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan has sparked my appreciation for these beautiful pieces of architecture. To me, stepping onto a bridge evokes a sense of freedom. A bridge can symbolize the choice to cross over to a new era, to take on a new adventure, or to strive for a new circumstance.

Whether it is a book, a movie, a collection of music, et cetera, I aspire to share my take on the pieces of work I encounter. I hope you enjoy what my site has to offer as I'll use it to share reviews and my views.

Creating a Life of Freedom - When Fear Comes Creeping In

It is in the knowing that we are worthy – that we are good enough – that we can move forward on our true path as we move through the fear.

It’s not always easy to face the knock, knock, knocking of fear at your door.

This anticipatory emotion is not new to you or me. Although it is an essential and very real aspect of the human experience, it should not take the lead in creating our lives.

As Elizabeth Gilbert describes in her book Big Magic, fear is just trying its darndest to stop you from taking risks. But what it doesn’t know or really care about is what your soul needs. Your soul needs to lead the way – to live the life it was meant to live. And sometimes what your soul requires does not align with what fear is instinctually trying to do – keep you safe, boring, and alive.

I think it’s important to acknowledge our fears in the moment, take a deep a breath in, and then promptly move in the direction we know is right for us.

It is in the knowing that we are worthy – that we are good enough – that we can move forward on our true path as we move through the fear.

Don’t worry – fear won’t forget us; it will make sure to visit us along whatever journey we may be on.

Sometimes it helps us to re-evaluate, start over, or take another route. Don’t be wary of assessing a situation in order to take better (or maybe just different) steps forward in the future. It’s about learning from your mistakes without being afraid of them. Do not let the fear of the unknown or the possibility of failure stop you from going after what you want.

You’ve likely heard it a thousand times, and you’re about to hear it again: if you don’t take the leap to go after what you know is right for you, then you’ve already failed. And isn't that the exact thing you were fearing in the first place?
